Crystal Gandrud holds an MFA in Creative
Writing from The New School University and
a BFA in Theatre from Boston University.
She has taught creative writing
extensively, including at Salve Regina
University, Newport, Rhode Island and the
Educational Alliance in New York City.
In addition, Crystal is a scholar of the
works of Iris Murdoch. Her most recent
paper, “Murdoch: the Mandala Maker,” was
presented in London at Kingston
University’s Iris Murdoch Conference in
2006. At the 2010 Iris Murdoch Conference,
she was invited to present an excerpt from
her fiction-work-in-progress entitled “The
Forgotten Man,” loosely based on Murdoch’s
mid-life.
She is also a certified Meditation
Instructor and graduate of Shambhala
Buddhist Vajrayana Seminary. Currently,
Crystal serves on the boards of The
Interdependence Project in New York City
and Karmê Chöling in Vermont.
She lives in Providence, Rhode Island
and Brooklyn Heights, New York.
